Singapore’s MPA cancels Coteam Petroleum’s bunker licenses due to breaches
1,878views 2014-04-02 15:37Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority said it had canceled the bunker supplier and bunker craft operator licenses of Coteam Petroleum Trading with immediate effect.
The company was found to have breached the terms and conditions of “the Bunkering License (Bunker Supplier) by allowing other companies to use their Bunker Delivery Notes to supply bunkers,” MPA said in a statement.
The company was also found to have breached “the Bunkering License (Bunker Craft Operator) for delivering bunkers on behalf of an unlicensed company to customers of that company,” MPA added.
Coteam Petroleum is no longer allowed to operate as a bunker supplier in Singapore, MPA said.
A bunker delivery note is a document that accompanies the delivery of fuel to a ship and typically contains information such as the quantity, quality, buyer and seller of the fuel.
An MPA official said this was the third license cancellation to date in 2014 after the authority canceled the bunker supplier licenses of Excel Petroleum Enterprise and Lian Hoe Leong & Brothers in January.
Five companies in Singapore either give up or had their licenses cancelled by MPA in 2013 due to breaches, Platts reported earlier.
Singapore is the world’s top bunkering port in terms of sales volume, with registered sales of 42.7 million mt in 2013, according to MPA.
