Thermal coal imports at India’s key state-run ports rise 22.6% in Apr-Aug: IPA
2,030views 2015-09-14 14:25India’s 12 key state-run ports handled 40.35 million mt of imported thermal coal over April-August, up 22.6% from the same period a year ago, according to latest data from the Indian Ports Association, or IPA.
But coking coal imports over the period fell marginally to 13.1 million mt, from 13.2 million mt in the year-ago period, the data showed.
Paradip port on the east coast received the most thermal coal imports during April-August at 12.5 million mt, up 13.6% from a year ago.
Paradip port also received the highest volume of coking coal in the five-month period at 3.6 million mt, unchanged from the year ago.
The 12 ports are: Kolkata, Paradip, Visakhapatnam, Kamarajar (Ennore), Chennai, VO Chidambaranar (Tuticorin), Cochin, New Mangalore, Mormugao, Mumbai, Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and Kandla.
