India’s Coal imports in Feb down 11% on-month
1,425views 2015-03-10 14:46India’s coal imports via 24 major ports stood at about 16.98 million mt in February, down 11% month on month, according to data from Indian shipbroker Interocean.
The monthly imports were comprised of 13.24 million mt of steam coal, down 9.7% from February, and 3.74 million mt of coking coal, down 15%.
Mundra on the west coast received the most coal at 2.96 million mt, down 8.8% and of which 2.87 million mt was steam coal.
Goa, also on the west coast, received the most coking coal in February at 717,717 mt, compared with 758,088 mt in January.
The surveyed ports were: Kandla, Navlakhi, Mundra, Bhavnagar, Pipavav, Muldwarka, Bedi, Magdalla, Dahej, Dharamtar, Haji Bunder, Jaigarh, Goa, Mangalore, Tuticorin, Ennore, Karaikal, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Gangavaram, Vizag, Paradip, Dhamra and Haldia.
The coal was mainly imported from Indonesia, South Africa, Australia and US.
Adani Enterprises, JSW Group, Tata Group, and Steel Authority of India Limited were the main importers.
